A. "Do I have to roleplay?"
You only have to roleplay if you've gone to the area
where everybody who's there has agreed to do so: our Dragonlands
area. This is the Harshlaw Underground (which is clearly labelled
"IC Roleplay") or a Roleplaying Guild's Dream.
Our goal is to grant the most freedom, but with
the least friction between furres with different styles of play.
We divided the world up into a couple of big areas, and you can
go to the area that suits your own mood or style best. Here is
how we divide up our in-character stuff. It's really more a spectrum
of play styles than two categories but the general philosophies
are useful for finding people you're likely to agree with.
Persona Player: "I'm kind of roleplaying but I'm not that
interested in doing a serious story. It doesn't really
matter to me if you follow the roleplaying rules. What
ever happens, we can always say it was magically fixed
by tomorrow if we want to."
Roleplayer: "I'm being my Furre; I want to be a part of a
"Continuity" where what went on last time is still valid
for today's play. I don't like it when people arbitrarily
claim to be powerful; I want things to make sense."
When you are in an area labelled as a Roleplaying
(In Character, IC) area, yes, you are obligated to pretend
and roleplay and accept other players' roleplaying.

B. "How do we fight here?"
Furcadia doesn't have non-consentual fast coded combat, and we
don't intend to ever have this. It *will* have coded support for
keeping track of characteristics, similar to the way it's done in
paper/dice roleplaying games, which we call "slow" combat.
In Persona Play areas, Combat has a "literary" feel, that is, dice
are optional and it focuses on writing and drama. For those who
want a randomized outcome as a framework for the action, we have
a special set of rules in which two combatants type the command to
roll a twenty-sided die once.
A more involved system, involving "hit points" and other more
detailed mechanics is forthcoming, for use in Roleplaying areas. It
is streamlined for online use but resembles traditional paper-and-dice
gaming.
See Section 1.3, Combat, for more information.

C. "Can I kill somebody?"
Only if they want you to. Death in an online game causes so
much damage to OOC relationships that we heavily discourage it. Your
character can only die if you, the player, truly want them to. For more
information about this, see Section 1.24, Consent.

D. "Can anybody play a wizard, demon-Furre, vampire,
half-Prime, Prime, etc, in this game?"
Yes and no. The Primes are only played by Dragon's Eye Staff
members. Please don't create them; they are legally copyright
to Furcadia and not available for play. Other than this restriction,
you can play whatever kind of character you want. Because it's the
default, we recommend and request that you stick to medieval/fantasy and
furres/byrddes/wyrmmes/bugges.
Nobody is obligated to act as if they believe you unless
you're both part of the same Guild. We seriously recommend that if you
want to Roleplay rather than Persona Play, you should join a Guild.

E. "How do I find a Guild?"
There are several large lists of them on the net. Many have been
"granted Charter" by us.
